2015 Church of God Convention FAQs
The 2015 Church of God Convention and General Assembly will convene June 22–25 in Oklahoma City, OK. This represents a tremendous opportunity for the church to come together and experience the power of gospel, while renewing our commitment to changing the world together in Jesus’ name. Below are answers to some Frequently Asked Questions about the Convention.
Who can attend?
Everyone is invited to attend the Church of God Convention 2015, but please make sure your pastor attends!
What is the convention’s theme?
The theme of the Church of God Convention 2015 is “Be Bold. Reclaim.”
Who will the speakers be?
Though the list of speakers is not yet finalized, a group of anointed speakers have been confirmed for the 2015 Convention: Francis Chan, Anita Renfro, Jim Lyon, Steve Rennick, Steve Southards, and Gillian Grannum.
Who will lead worship?
The Crossings Venue Band from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma will lead dynamic, high-energy worship experiences. Selah, as well as Shane and Shane, will also make appearances.
Will the services be streamed online?
We are currently looking into the possibility of streaming one special night of the convention. Stay tuned for details.
How much is registration for the Church of God Convention (in Oklahoma City)?
Until April 1, early bird registration is available for $95 per person. After April 1, the rate is $125. After June 14 and onsite registration is $150.
Are there special registration rates for families with children?
Special family rates are available again this year. Please contact Sue Baird at 800-848-2464, ext. 2130, for more information.
Are registration fees refundable?
As with NAC and IYC, registration fees for the Church of God Convention are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Please contact Sue Baird with questions or concerns at 800-848-2464, ext. 2130.
What are the options for the small-church pastor or the bivocational pastor who may have difficulty meeting the registration cost?
We encourage congregations to make it a point to include their pastor’s registration and travel costs in their budget, or gifting these costs so that pastors may be a part of this pivotal moment in the life of the Church of God. Most of all, the Church of God Convention 2015 is designed for pastors and General Assembly members. Please do what you can to arrange for your pastor to attend.
If your congregation is unable to underwrite the cost of your attendance at the Convention, we hope you’ll be in touch with us. We’d like to be a part of helping you to discover a creative solution. If any of our team can speak to someone on your church board on your behalf, we will. If we can place your name on a list of pastors seeking help, we may be able to connect you with a group of pastors from your region who want to attend together and share expenses. Where will general sessions and worship services take place?
General sessions of the Church of Convention, including the General Assembly, will take place at Crossings Community Church in Oklahoma City.
Will there be reserved handicap seating?
Will any convention activities take place at Mid-America Christian University?
Convention activities in Oklahoma City will not take place at MACU, but during your stay in Oklahoma City for the Church of God Convention, you may wish to visit the campus. The university is a twenty-minute drive south of the church.
What hotels are closest to the church where convention sessions will take place?
Lodging information, including a list of hotels with convention rates, can be found by visiting www.chogconvention.org. All hotels listed are within a driving distance of fifteen to twenty minutes from the convention venue.
Will there be space for RVs and tents for those who wish to camp in Oklahoma City?
Visit www.chogconvention.org for lodging information, including campgrounds that are available in and around Oklahoma City. Twin Fountains RV Park (2727 Northeast 63rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 7311) and Rockwell RV Park & Campground (720 South Rockwell, Oklahoma City, OK 73108) are two of the several available options, though some require a commute. Please use discretion and call ahead when making all overnight arrangements.
Are dorms available for lodging at Mid-America Christian University?
MACU will have rooms available for rent during the 2015 Church of God Convention. Visit www.chogconvention.org/ for lodging information.
When will the General Assembly convene?
The General Assembly will convene from 8:30–10:30 AM CDT, Tuesday, June 23; Wednesday, June 24; and Thursday, June 25. General Assembly members may attend these business sessions for free. For those who cannot attend, a live video feed of the three sessions will be available online. Absentee ballots may also be requested.
Each of the regular sessions will be inspirational and informative for the entire body of the Assembly. All convention-goers will be welcome to observe the business sessions.
Will there be food vendors on site?
No, but Oklahoma City boasts thousands of fine restaurants, ranging from inexpensive fast food to gourmet eating establishments.
Will there be shuttle service?
All convention activities in Oklahoma City will take place at Crossings Community Church. Shuttles will not be available for those who wish to stay in the dorms at Mid-America Christian University.
Will there be booth space for my ministry organization?
In Oklahoma City, booth space will be made available to endorsed and affiliated agencies of the Church of God.
Will CDs and DVDs be made available of the services?
At this time, the availability of event CDs and DVDs for purchase is uncertain due to copyright permissions. Please check back for details.
